Surprisingly Similar

Below are pictures from when Indiana was born and when Porter was born. I never realized how much they looked alike at birth. Indiana now looks almost identical to me when I was little, and I thought Porter was looking more like Devin. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

My Cute 18-Month Old

Indiana turned 18 months old last Sunday! She is now in nursery at church and she is loving it! She had a checkup yesterday with her doctor and for height she is off the charts. For weight she is in the 50th percentile at 25 lbs. I swear it feels like she weighs more than that! I guess I am just used to carrying around Porter now. I think she looks like she weighs more than that too, but she doesn't. She is so good with Porter and is being an awesome big sister! I am so grateful for her and that a year and a half ago she came into this world! She can say so many words now! Of course sometimes Devin & I are the only ones that understand her. She knows her shapes like circle (gircle), square (qware), triangle (anal--hope that word doesn't offend anyone!), star (tar), and heart (she says that one right!)! She doesn't care too much for learning her colors. She can even put her own shoes on now, although not always on the right feet. I know every parent thinks their kid is the smartest, and I do too! I think I always will, even if when she is older and is failing every class I will still think she is smarter than every other kid! I guess it's a mom thing.

Dad's boots are the funnest shoes to wear!

More Pics

Here are some more recent pics of Porter & Indiana. I really love having a newborn in the house again, however Porter has colic ten times worse than Indiana did! Poor guy! He cries and screams most of the time and just wants to nurse, which makes his stomache hurt even worse. I feel so bad for him and I can't wait for him to grow out of it! But I am still so grateful to have him in our family and wouldn't want it any other way! Indiana is loves him too and gets so concerned when he starts to cry. She goes up to him and tries giving him his pacifier and says, "No cry baby" in a really sweet voice. I love these two!!!

Giving us a smile! He looks so much like Devin!
Giving her baby brother kisses!

So excited to hold him!

So sweet and precious!

He's Finally Here!

Porter Brigham Jones arrived into this world on Saturday January 23rd at 7:29 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 20 1/2" long. We were so happy to finally meet him! He has really blonde hair that is kind of curly and although he looks huge in the pictures, he feels tiny to me! I guess it's because I compare him to Indiana. Well, I love hearing about other girl's birth stories so here goes mine for those of you who care. I was scheduled to be induced Wednesday the 27th, just one day before my due date, because I was in a lot of pain and felt like I could barely function. When I had my doctor's appointment on the 14th my doc said that I probably would have him before my next appointment on the 21st. Well, I made it to my appointment and then my doc said my cervix wasn't ripening at all and I wasn't really progressing, so I would probably have to be induced. Then on Saturday morning I woke up at about 6:30am with painful contractions. But they felt just like the ones I had been having for the past couple weeks. I kept having them about every 15 minutes. I had an appointment with someone at H&R Block for our taxes that morning at 9 and I debated whether I should go or not. Devin reminded me what the doctor had said and so we both figured I probably wasn't in labor. I went to my appointment and the contractions started getting stronger. By time I got home they were about 8 minutes apart, but I still didn't think I was in labor. By 11am they were getting really close together and were so strong and painful that I had tears in my eyes. I told Devin we should go to the hospital just in case. We called Devin's brothers so they could come watch Indiana for us. We got to the hospital at about 12 and they took a while to get us up to triage. I wasn't too happy about that. Once we got up there the nurse had me change into a gown and lie down on a bed. Right when she was about to check me to see how dilated I was my water broke, on it's own!!! I was dilated to a 5. We were pretty excited that I was actually in labor and we were going to have a baby that day! We called family members to let them know. I then asked when I could get my epidural because last time when I was in labor with Indy they had given it to me when I was only dilated to a 4. They said rules had changed and they had to draw my blood first, get the results back and then they could give me an epidural. They got me into a labor & delivery room to wait. The contractions were so painful and were right on top of each other. I was almost screaming in pain! I didn't hold back any tears though. Finally at about 3 pm I was able to get the epidural and I was then dilated to a 7. After that the labor was wonderful! I got to rest and watch movies with Devin. I did get a really bad stomache ache for the last part of my labor, but it was better than feeling contractions. At about 7:15 the doctor came in and I finally started pushing. Then at 7:29 my handsome little boy was born! I am so grateful my epidural worked and I was able to really enjoy the delivery. When I had Indiana I had been in labor for almost 32 hours with an epidural that didn't work for most of the time, so I didn't really enjoy it all that much. This time was wonderful! Below are some pics. Hope you enjoy them!

Finally a Name!

Well, after getting everyone's advice and viewing the poll results we have decided to go with.......................................................none of the middle names we had listed for Porter! Porter Rockwell & Porter Devin were tied for first. But Devin & I were talking the other day and I just said out of the blue "How about Porter Brigham Jones?" Devin thought about it and said he really really liked it. So, that is going to be his middle name. Brigham. I really like it. Thanks for all your input and participating in our poll!!! Oh, also at my dr's appt yesterday she told me I am dilated to a 2. But I am not effaced at all. :0( But she did say that she doesn't think I'll make it to my next appointment next week if I keep having contractions like I've been having. But I'm not holding my breath. We'll see!!!

Just Waiting...

So, I had a doctor's appointment today and she asked me if I wanted to be checked to see if I was dilating since I've been having contractions. I thought about it and then decided not to be checked. I don't want to get my hopes up if I am dilating and I don't want to be disappointed if I'm not. Besides, either way it doesn't really matter if I am or not. With Indy I started dilating at 35 weeks and ended up going past my due date and having to be induced. Last week at 36 weeks I wasn't dilated at all. Next week she said she is going to check me not matter what, so we'll just wait till then. She also said that as long as I am dilating she'll induce me whenever I want after next week. But I think I want to wait it out and see if I go into labor on my own. I want to know what it feels like to call Devin at work and say, "Hurry home! We need to get to the hospital!" Or wake him up in the middle of the night to say it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens! I hope Porter comes on his own soon because I am in tons of pain and am ready to be done. So, for now I am just waiting.

Sledding in Flagstaff

On New Years day we decided to take a little road trip up to Flagstaff to play in the snow. It was so hard to find an area that wasn't completely crowded. Most sledding areas were so crowded that people were parking on the highways and walking sometimes more than a mile just to sled. It was pretty crazy. Indiana went sledding once with Devin and that was enough for her. She liked picking up the snow and throwing it. I didn't sled but had fun watching everyone else!

Christmas

We ended up not traveling anywhere for Christmas this year and spent it here in our own home. It was fun though. Indiana had a blast with all of her new toys! We couldn't get her to open any of her gifts, she made us do it for her. I don't know if she was afraid of the wrapping paper or what. But she had fun anyways. I am grateful for this time of year to reflect on what Christmas is truly about. We wouldn't even have this holiday if it wasn't for our Savior, Jesus Christ. One of my favorite songs this time of year is "Mary did you know?" It is such a beautiful song and when you become a mother yourself I think it makes it even more special. Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too!

Please Help Me!!!

So, we still don't have a middle name for Porter. I came up with a few and want you all to vote on your favorite one! The poll is to the right. If you have any ideas for a middle name that is not listed on the poll, please feel free to let me know what they are!!! We only have about 1 more month (hopefully less) to decide! Thanks for your help!!!

Scary Experience!!!

So, yesterday I had something super scary happen to me. It's been raining here in Mesa so Devin called me from work and asked me to move his truck, which is a single cab. I said sure and went out there, unlocked the door and got in. Then I made the huge mistake of closing the driver side door behind me. I put the key in the ignition and his truck wouldn't start! The battery was dead. You can't open either of the doors in Devin's truck from the inside, you have to roll the windows down and open them from the outside. But with the battery dead I couldn't even roll the windows down since they are electric! The battery was just too dead! I am very claustrophobic and started to freak out because I was stuck in Devin's truck. I kept looking around for someone to help me. I then started worrying about Indiana because she could be waking up from her nap any minute. My brother was here visiting from Las Cruces but he had just gone up to take a shower when I went out to move the truck. I started crying because I didn't know how long I was going to be stuck in there. Then I realized that his truck has one of those little sliding windows in the back that leads out to the bed of the truck. I opened it up (after quite a few tries because it was stuck) and then really doubted that I could fit my huge preggo body through that little square window. Well, I did and it was painful!!! When you are pregnant you don't have any stomach muscles to help hold your lower body up and my legs got all scraped up and then my knees are bruised from landing in the bed of the truck. I was finally free!!! When I think about it now and when I told Devin about it later I couldn't help but laugh. But at the time it was super scary!!! Sorry this is so long, I am very detailed when I tell stories. Anywhoo, that's it. I'm done.

30 Week Ultrasound!

I had my 30 week ultrasound this morning and I have GREAT news!!! He finally turned! I am so happy that Porter is finally head down. Why did my doctor have to worry me like that? I guess she was just preparing me for if he didn't turn, but he did so I am happy! They had a hard time taking pictures of him because they said I have an "on top" placenta which was covering his face and other body parts. So, below is the best picture of his face we got. The left side of his face is distorted because that is where the placenta is. His head is measuring 2 weeks & 1 day ahead and the rest of his body is measuring 5 days ahead. He weighs 3 lbs 12 oz!!! I think he is going to be one big boy!

Below are the measurements of his humongous head!

Indy's 15 Month Stats

Okay, so I'm a little late posting this but at her 15 month checkup she was in the 93rd %ile for height and in the 50th %ile for weight. She weighs just over 22 1/2 lbs! She is such a big girl and I love watching her learn something new everyday! She is such a joy to be around and loves giving kisses. I am so grateful to have Indy in my life and I don't know what I would do without her!

Our Christmas Lists

So, for Christmas this year we are asking Santa for the following things.
Indiana wants:

Devin Wants:
(yeah, right. What he wants costs over $2000. Maybe another year.)

Jade wants:

Is that too much to ask for? Maybe. I think Indy & I will get what we want, but as for Devin he can keep on dreaming. I need help though, I have NO CLUE what to get him! When I ask him what he wants he says nothing. All he wants is that electric drum set but even he knows we can't get it. Any ideas on what to get him? I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

Ramblings of a Pregnant Lady.

Well, just had a doctor's appointment and Porter is still breech. He's been breech at every appointment so far. I want him to turn!!! I do not want a c-section! My doc said at 36 weeks she could try turning him if I wanted, but just warned me that it is done at a hospital just in case it puts me into labor or something happens to the baby, and it is very painful. But I told her I was willing to try it. She said I would be a good canidate for it since I've already delivered one baby vaginally and there could be a good chance that Porter would stay head down after he was turned. We'll see. I also learned at my appointment this morning why I have been so tired, I'm now anemic. My doctor did say this was common for pregnant ladies in their 3rd trimester. I also have swelling in my ankles and feet and now weight as much as I did when I was 9 months pregnant with Indy. This pregnancy has just been different. Oh well, it still won't stop me from getting pregnant again in a couple of years! I am excited though because in 2 weeks I get my 3D ultrasound and I'm going to compare Porter's 3D pics to Indy's. I wonder what he is going to look like?!

Our New Home!

This is our new, well new to us, house. The pics make it look smaller than what it really is, I think. Sorry the kitchen is a mess!
I was making our costumes for halloween.

The living room and front door.

The upstairs.

This will be Porter's room. I don't like the flooring in here, the owner used it as an office. But we will get a big soft rug to put in the middle.

This is Indy's room. It's not the best picture, but it was hard to get a pic
that showed the whole room. Oh well.

This is our room. It is pretty big, but doesn't look it in the picture. Behind that big mirror is a small walk-in closet.

Halloween!

Here are some pics from Halloween this year!

Indy did not like the hood on her costume.
That is why I had to put bows in her hair.
