Halloween 2010

We went to our ward’s Trunk-or-Treat Saturday night.  It was fun!  Indiana had a blast dancing around and playing with the other kids.  She did not want to play any of the games that they had set up, but she loved Trunk-or-Treating!  She thought it was the neatest thing that she just had to walk up to someone sitting by their car and say, “Trick-or-Treat” and then they handed over candy!  Each time she was just in awe by the candy she received!  Porter was not in too good of a mood since that morning I had stopped nursing him.

Cold Turkey

So, today I quit nursing Porter… cold turkey.  I am a horrible mother, right?   I feel so bad and he crawls to me crying and has a look on his face that asks, “Mom, why are you doing this to me?”  I wanted to nurse him till he was one, but he has 4 teeth and nursing lately has been really painful!  I cried while nursing this morning because of the pain I was in.  I have been unsuccessful the past couple of months in getting Porter to take a bottle.  However, today he drank from a hard-top sippy cup!  He still won’t have anything to do with a bottle or a sippy cup that has a soft top.  Even though he is drinking from a sippy cup he still cries quite a bit and wants me to nurse him.  I cry with him sometimes.  Hopefully we will both get through this together!

Visit from an old friend

My friend Christin came to visit me for two whole weeks from Germany!  She was a foreign exchange student my senior year at my high school in Deming, NM.  She lived with the Knoop’s, which is a family I have known since I was a baby.  We have remained great friends even though she lives on the other side of the world!  She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and I have flown to Germany once to visit her.

While she was here we did a lot of shopping, eating out, talking, laughing, and of course we made a trip over to Deming so she could see everyone there.  We were also able to drive to Las Cruces for a day to visit my mom, little Sister McKree and brother Cleary.   Below are a few pictures from her visit.

Going Private

I have been trying so hard to avoid doing this, but lately I have had a few comments from people and I have no clue who they are and their profiles are private. I have deleted those comments, but want to protect my family so I am making our blog private. I am sorry for any inconvenience this causes for anyone, but I don’t want pedafiles looking at my children’s pictures. If you already know my e-mail address then e-mail me yours, just in case I don’t have your most current one. Or you can just leave a comment with your e-mail here. I will be going private hopefully within the next week.

My 50’s girl

I made this skirt for me, but I didn’t buy enough fabric and it was too short so I adjusted the size to fit Indiana.  I want to find a tutorial to make a cute little tie out of some of the extra fabric for Porter.  Then they could match!   I still need to hem the skirt but she hasn’t wanted to take it off.  Also, the little flower thingy on her shirt I am still working on.  She just wanted it on her shirt already, so I went ahead and just safety-pinned it on for now.  All she needs now is some black and white saddle shoes and she’s a blast from the past!

Recent Stuff

I haven’t posted in over a month!  Sorry.  We have been really busy!  Devin started his last year at ASU last month.  We are so excited to see a light at the end of the tunnel!  He could have been done so much sooner with school but he received bad advice from a school counselor, and needless to say that counselor is no longer there.  We have also had family come visit a few times.  The weeks just seem to be flying by recently!  Before I know it we’ll be decorating for Christmas then ringing in the new year!  Porter has started army crawling everywhere!  He also has said “Momma” a few times!  He isn’t my little baby anymore.  Indiana has been really picky with what she will wear lately.  Last week we went to the library and she insisted on wearing one of her fanciest church dresses!  She is also so ready for potty training and has been for a while, she just doesn’t want to!  She comes up to me and lets me know when it is time to change her diaper and she always wants a new one that she can do #2 in.  When I ask her if she needs to go potty she just says, “No thank you.”  Ha ha!  I have been told not to push her though, just to let her do it on her own time.  Hopefully that time comes because her and Porter are now in the same size diaper and it is really expensive diapering two kids!

Anyways, here are some pictures from the past month.

These ones were taken at the AZ Museum for Youth.  It is a small “hands-on” museum in Mesa.

INDY TURNS 2!!!

It has been exactly two years since I gave birth to my little girl, Indiana. I was in labor for almost 32 hours and my epidural didn’t work for most of it, only when I started pushing did it start to work! Indy’s head was on a nerve and that caused my epidural to stop working. Weird, huh? She has been such a blessing in our lives! I love her so much and pray that she grows up to be a wonderful young woman, woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and so on. I hope I teach her and raise her well. I hate to see her get hurt, but I know she will have to go through some pain in her life, both physical and emotional. I hope she allows me to be there for her and comfort her.

Porter had his 6 month check-up and he is in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. We were suprised because he looks so chunky! We thought for sure that he would be in the 90th or somewhere along there. His head is in the 90th, so he needs to grow into it! His second bottom tooth cut all the way through finally. And it seems like overnight he mastered sitting up unassisted! I swear, over the weekend he still was wobbly sometimes and now he does great! Well, that's it for his update. We are headed to Mexico for a week, so I will post some more pictures when we get back!

My Handsome 6 Month Old!

Porter is six months old today! Time sure flies. He has his check-up on Monday so I don't have his stats yet. He has two bottom teeth, one is out all the way and the other barely breaking through. He smiles and laughs A LOT! He also taught himself to sleep through the night! I thought he was going to be hard to train to sleep through the night, but it turns out that I didn't have to train him at all. He just started sleeping from 8pm - 6:30ish all on his own without waking up once. He has been doing that for over a week now. He is also finally taking two two-hour naps in the day and then a half-hour one in the evening. He is still exclusively nursing, which I love! We are still working on the sitting up thing, but he is doing pretty good. Indiana was crawling around everywhere by this age and he shows no signs of even being interested in crawling, which is fine by me! I love him so much!

Video of my 2 loves!

Above is a video of Porter laughing and Indiana singing her ABC's. Before I got the camera out, Porter was laughing harder than he ever has! I wish I could have got him on camera earlier. Oh well. Indiana LOVES singing her ABC's and I am so proud of her and how well she sings them!

More sewing projects

Last night I went to JoAnn's and bought this really cute fabric for only $3.50 and made a nursing wrap! I put boning in it so I can see Porter while he is nursing. I made it a little bigger than normal wraps because I don't feel like they cover me all the way. I am always using blankets along with my wrap to cover myself.

Below is a picture of a little purse I made for Indiana. She has these little animal toys that she loves to take EVERYWHERE with her and I am tired of them being in my diaper bag. I made the purse in about 30 min and wish I had spent a little more time on it. But it turned out okay and Indy loves it. There is even a pocket in the front for her sippy cup! I bought this fabric on sale at Walmart for $1.50 and still have a ton of it left. I am thinking I will make Indy a skirt with it. Still not sure though.

Plain Cuteness

Look at Porter sitting! Without his boppy he only last at most 15 seconds or so, but with it he will last however long he wants! I think all that weight around his belly is helping him to learn to sit! Haha!

Indiana fell asleep in her princess chair the other day. She LOVES her bear and has to have it with her most of the time. She is such a sweet girl.
